Ramsey backed for full-time role

first_img Press Association QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has claimed he would be “nuts” not to make Chris Ramsey full-time manager if the club avoid relegation. Fernandes says the job is caretaker boss Ramsey’s for the taking, even above his supposed “dream” candidate. Ramsey took over the Barclays Premier League strugglers following the departure of Harry Redknapp this month and has now been appointed until the end of the season after talks with other parties yielded nothing. center_img Fernandes told Sky Sports News: “If someone keeps us up now we’d be nuts to change him. “But even if we don’t stay up, and we have to be real about it, I think Chris could still be the man that takes us to the promised land.” Prior to Ramsey’s appointment for the rest of the season, Fernandes tweeted that he believed he had found his “dream manager”. Tim Sherwood – now at Aston Villa – and Michael Laudrup were both heavily linked with the Loftus Road post but nothing materialised. Fernandes said: “It wasn’t a make-belief Tony Fernandes tweet. It was someone I was very keen on. Things conspired that in the end we felt we’d go with Chris.” He added: “We spoke to about five people and no one felt right at the time. “One person did – and he’s someone I still believe would be a dream manager for QPR – but when you’ve got someone like Chris Ramsey, I think the job is his for the taking.” QPR are 17th in the Premier League and outside the relegation zone only on goal difference but Ramsey oversaw their first away win of the season – at Sunderland – last week. last_img read more

first_img For all the Latest Sports News News, Cricket News News, Download News Nation Android and iOS Mobile Apps. New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 will be held in India despite a speculated clash of dates with the Lok Sabha elections. To avoid such a situation, the glitzy event will start earlier than usual, from March 23, the Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) announced on Tuesday. The dates were announced after the two-member CoA,  comprising chairman Vinod Rai and former women’s captain Diana Edulji, met in the national capital to discuss the venues and window for the league.      “Based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies/authorities, it was decided that the 12th edition of the world’s most popular and competitive T20 tournament will be scheduled to be played in India,” reads a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).     “It is proposed that the IPL 2019 will commence on March 23, 2019. The detailed schedule will be finalised in consultation with the appropriate authorities,” it added.”The COA will have detailed discussion with all the stakeholders before releasing the IPL 2019 Schedule,” the BCCI said in the statement.    The last time the IPL got started in March was 2010. After that, the league has always kicked off in the first half of April and ended in late May. The early start this year is because of the ODI World Cup in England which will get underway from May 30.   There has to be a 15-day gap between the end of the IPL and India’s international engagements as per the new BCCI constitution. The IPL has been played outside India twice due to general elections. The entire 2009 edition was moved to South Africa, while in 2014, some games were played in the UAE. With PTI Inputs last_img read more

Parking is not permitted along Ellendale Place from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.The City of Los Angeles is resurfacing the street, and construction is estimated to last four weeks.Improvement · Repavement began on Ellendale Place on Monday as part of an L.A. City Council-approved project to improve streets throughout Los Angeles. The project is expected to last four weeks and to cost $300,000. – Chloe Stepney | Daily TrojanThe last time any maintenance was done on Ellendale Place was in 1986. The average life cycle of a residential street is 20 to 25 years, said Nazario Sauceda, director of the Bureau of Street Services for the City of Los Angeles.Ellendale Place is one of many streets being identified by the city for improvements this year.“The conditions of streets today are a result of historical underfunding,” Sauceda said. “It’s a monumental thing that our administration now is doing something to stop the deterioration of our streets.”Cora Jackson-Fossett, director of public affairs for the L.A. Dept. of Public Works, said the improvements will benefit students and the surrounding community.“This will reduce costs to automotive repairs and bring aesthetic calming to the community and noise reduction,” Jackson-Fossett said. The street system in Los Angeles is the largest street network in the world and incorporates more than 70,000 city blocks. Using MicroPAVER, the city is able to analyze the condition of every street and to predict future conditions.“Streets are a key component of the quality of life for residents,” Sauceda said. “Ellendale Place will not only improve conditions for cars, but also address livability, walkability and serviceability.”USC bus stops on Ellendale are not accessible during construction. B Route stops can instead be accessed at 29th Street and Ellendale Place or Adams Boulevard and Ellendale Place. The estimated cost of the project is $300,000.last_img read more
